Chicago Bears rookie WR has to do MRI on his knee

Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze suffered a knee injury in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Tennessee Titans and will undergo an MRI on Monday, coach Matt Eberflus said.

Odunze, the No. 9 pick in the 2024 draft, injured his knee while blocking in the fourth quarter and mentioned it to the team during the game. Eberflus said he would have another update on Wednesday after Odunze's tests and would not speculate on his level of concern.

“I don't have enough information yet,” Eberflus said Monday in Halas Hall. “We'll see on Wednesday.”

Odunze played 77% of the offensive snaps on Sunday. He caught one 11-yard pass on four attempts – and lost the ball after a hard hit. Bears left guard Teven Jenkins recovered the fumble.

Odunze took another tough hit when he blocked an 8-yard catch for Velus Jones Jr. with 5 minutes, 9 seconds left. Two Titans defenders tackled Jones on Odunze's leg. On the next play, D'Andre Swift's 20-yard run, Odunze limped to a stop.

Odunze spoke to reporters for several minutes after the game and did not mention the injury.

The Bears' wide receiver room appears to be in a bad state. Both DJ Moore and Keenan Allen went to the medical tent during the game but returned. Allen has been battling a heel injury since mid-August.

Eberflus brushed aside concerns about Moore and Allen on Monday.

“Our only real concern is Rome, the knee of Rome,” he said.
