Second child charged with terrorist threats against Montgomery schools

MONTGOMERY, Alabama (WSFA) – Two 13-year-olds are suspected of making terrorist threats against the Montgomery public school system, Montgomery police confirmed Monday.

MPS notified police after numerous threats were made on social media over the weekend, particularly against Bellingrath and McKee middle schools.

“After learning of the social media posts yesterday, Montgomery Police took swift action,” police said in a statement. “Our investigators worked diligently and in close collaboration with the Montgomery Public School System and local and federal partners to identify and arrest the individual responsible for this threat.”

Late Sunday night, a boy was taken into custody by MPD Special Operations and the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force. Police said Monday that a girl was also taken into custody as part of their ongoing investigation.

Acting MPD Police Chief James Graboys issued a statement following the arrest of the second teenager.

The children, who were housed at the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center, are not being identified because of their age.

It is unclear whether the minors are involved in Threats in other surrounding school systemsalthough law enforcement authorities remain on high alert.
