Ordine suggests that Maignan caused an “explosive charge”: “motivation, desire, reparation”

AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan showed several positive qualities in France's 3-1 loss to Italy, but Franco Ordine felt the goalkeeper's words motivated the Italian team.

On Friday evening, Maignan was the best rated player for France when they lost to the Azzurri at the Parc des Princes. Despite conceding three goals, he put in an outstanding performance and showed Leadership qualities during the game and afterward.

According to a report, the Frenchman was very critical of his teammates in the dressing room and has already become a leader in the French camp in a short time. It is therefore reasonable to assume that a similar path could be available for Milan.

However, Ordine also criticized Maignan in his column in Il Giornale, claiming that his pre-match words had sparked something within the Azzurri – his words were relayed by Milan News.

“The excessive outburst by Mike Maignan, which he addressed to his colleagues after the Paris lesson on Friday and which was exposed by colleagues at l'Equipe, cannot and must not go unnoticed. The most significant part of the French goalkeeper's outburst was the following: 'In France, only 2 Azzurri would play as regular players.' As if to say: who are we going to let ourselves be beaten by?

“It was a blow to the gut for him, it can become an explosive charge for the Azzurri. The question is not the trivial one, whether it looks exactly like that on paper at the moment. Nor is it complicated who Maignan meant when he referred to the number 2 Italians who would find a place in Deshamps' lineup: one is Sandro Tonali, a giant in midfield in the face of more celebrated rivals such as the new Milanese Fofana, the other is Calafiori, who emerged from the duel injured early on.”
