The Weeknd shoots new music video with the new iPhone 16 Pro

Most of us probably only use our iPhone to record cute cat videos or film a child's dance performance, but it can do more than that, and Apple wants us to know that. Grammy-winning musician The Weeknd used the new iPhone 16 Pro to shoot his new music video for his song Dancing In The Flames, Apple announced at its live event on Monday. The video includes a cool effect created by the phone's slow-motion 4K resolution setting at 120 frames per second.

“Shooting (in 4K resolution at 120 frames per second) really helped us slow down reality,” Eric Hendrickson, the video's cinematographer, said in a video shared at the Apple event. “(It helped) slow down the elements, slow down The Weeknd's movements. You didn't have to think, 'Oh, it's just an iPhone.' We just pushed it as far as we normally do and got really epic shots.”

The Weeknd first performed Dancing In The Flames on September 7 in a one-off concert live-streamed from São Paulo, Brazil. Billboard's review said the new song “has the makings of a hit from the first listen” and wrote that the singer's voice “floats over an indelible synth line, singing of an odyssey where 'We're dancing in the flames/ It's indescribable.'”

This isn't the first time The Weeknd has been involved with Apple products. In July, Apple announced that an immersive performance by the musician would appear on the Apple Vision Pro headset.

The new Apple phones can be pre-ordered from September 13th and will be available in stores from September 20th.
