New Hampshire Secretary of State releases videos to educate voters on cybersecurity

AND BEFORE THAT, THE SECRETARY OF STATE'S OFFICE WANTS TO MAKE SURE PEOPLE FEEL CONFIDENT IN THE VOTING PROCESS. SECRETARY OF STATE DAVID SCANLAN SAYS THIS IS A GOOD TIME TO REMINDER PEOPLE ABOUT INTERNET SCAMS LIKE PHISHING AND POSSIBLE AI-GENERATED ADS AND VIDEOS. THEY HAVE POSTED VIDEOS TO GET VOTERS INFORMED ABOUT THE POSSIBLE TYPES OF SCAMS THAT THEY SHOULD BE WARNED OF. FOR EXAMPLE, HE SAYS IT'S IMPORTANT THAT POLL OFFICERS READ ALL ELECTION-RELATED EMAILS TO AVOID ACTIONS THAT COULD INADVERTISEMENTALLY COMPROMISE EXISTING SECURITY MEASURES. SCANLAN SAYS SOME STATES HAVE EXPERIENCED SUCH PROBLEMS, BUT NEW HAMPSHIRE IS NOT ONE OF THEM. HE SAYS HE HAS CONFIDENCE IN THE SECURITY MEASURES PLANNED FOR TOMORROW. HE HAS SPENT A LOT OF TIME TRAINING OUR LOCAL ELECTION OFFICIALS. THEY TAKE THEIR JOBS VERY SERIOUSLY. THEY DO A FANTASTIC JOB, AND THIS IS A TRUE TEAM EFFORT. Ahead of Tuesday's primary, the New Hampshire Secretary of State's office is taking steps to educate voters about cybersecurity.Secretary of State David Scanlan said the primary is a good opportunity to remind people about internet scams such as phishing and AI-generated ads and videos. His office has released videos to educate voters about the potential scams to watch out for. >> Voter Guide: When and how to vote?Scanlan said it's important that poll workers review all emails related to voting processes to avoid actions that could inadvertently compromise security measures. He said there have been such issues in some states, but New Hampshire is not one of them.Scanlan said he is confident about the security measures set for Tuesday. “I've spent a lot of time training our local election officials,” Scanlan said. “They take their duties very seriously. They do a fantastic job, and this is a real team effort. There are many precautions in place to make sure that we have a good, robust, safe, accurate and fair election tomorrow.” The instructional videos can be found on the State Department website.
