According to a police report, the victim met a woman on July 18 through the dating app BLK.

They had agreed to meet at the victim's house that day, but while the victim was waiting for them to arrive, he received a Facetime call from her saying that her vehicle had broken down and she needed $800 to have it towed.

The victim agreed and when she arrived at his home, he gave her $600.

The next day, July 19, the woman contacted the victim and asked if he wanted to go out. He agreed. However, when the woman arrived, she was in a white SUV with a man driving and Maytin in the back seat, the report said.

The victim got into the SUV, sat next to Maytin and they drove around, presumably in the Wynwood area.

They eventually stopped near a park, where Maytin pulled out a knife and demanded that the victim hand over his money, wallet and cellphone, the report said.

Maytin then punched the victim in the face and demanded that he send him money via Cashapp, the report said.

The victim sent $393, but they demanded more money and drove him to an ATM on Northwest 14th Avenue, where several transactions totaling over $1,000 took place.

The victim said he was “under duress” when Maytin watched him make the withdrawals, the report said.

A short time later, the suspects dropped the victim off at an unknown location and he walked until he reached the emergency room at Baptist Health on Southwest 136th Street, where he was treated for facial injuries.

Bank statements showed that several other ATM transactions totaling $700 occurred on July 20.

Miami police were able to secure photos from the ATMs' surveillance cameras and used facial recognition to find a possible match. On Sept. 4, the victim identified Maytin from a photo lineup as the man who robbed him, the report said.

Maytin was taken to jail. He appeared in court over the weekend, where he was remanded in custody without bail.

The police report did not indicate whether police were looking for the woman the victim met through the app or the man who was driving the SUV.
