After Jennifer Lopez officially filed for divorce from her husband of two years, Ben Affleck, she made her first red carpet appearance in a daring dress… and according to the actress, the moment almost didn't happen.

On Friday, September 6, Lopez attended the premiere of her new film Unstoppable– which is produced by her soon-to-be ex-husband’s company, Artists Equity – during the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival at Roy Thomson Hall.

After stopping at a media tent, Lopez said People that she wasn't quite sure if she would wear Tamara Ralph's daring silver dress, which featured head-to-toe side slits held together with large black bows.

“There was a discussion about whether I should do it or not,” Lopez told the publication, referring to her revenge dress. “And I was like, screw it.”

“It felt good,” she added.

Noticeably absent from the celebrations was her ex Affleck, who skipped the premiere and was instead spotted in Los Angeles, where he lives.

Affleck founded his production company with his best friend and fellow actor Matt Damon, who, unlike Affleck, was also present alongside his wife.

Following the premiere, Lopez — who has been posting more frequently on social media since filing divorce papers — posted a series of photos of her so-called revenge dress on Instagram, accompanied by a simple caption that was both fitting for the occasion and (possibly) meant to have a double meaning, as the mother of two is now back to living her single life.

“Unstoppable,” Lopez wrote.

If Lopez did indeed wear the provocative, glittery dress to send a message of “revenge,” it would be in line with recent reports that the singer and actress ended her marriage, in part because she was tired of being “humiliated” by Affleck.

“Jennifer said she was tired of being humiliated by Ben and she waited until the second anniversary because she wanted it to hurt,” a source told Daily Mail, and refers to the day Lopez filed divorce papers, which coincidentally fell on the two-year anniversary of the couple's wedding celebration in Georgia.

“But it didn't hurt him,” the insider continued at the time. “He's been done for a long time and deep down she knows it. He let her do it so she wouldn't look like the bad guy.”
