Ryan Secrest is the new host of “Wheel of Fortune” at the beginning of the 42nd season

After more than 40 years at the helm, veteran game show host Pat Sajak has officially handed over the keys to “Wheel of Fortune” to Ryan Seacrest.

Sajak, 77, retired as host of the syndicated word puzzle show in June, and Seacrest will take over when the new season airs next week, joining co-host Vanna White.

The 42nd season of “Wheel of Fortune” premieres on Monday, September 9, on ABC, with Ryan Seacrest hosting the first episodes.

In a promotional video for the handover shot earlier this summer, longtime host Pat Sajak and co-host Vanna White welcomed Seacrest to the set of “Wheel of Fortune.”
