2 people taken into custody after incident at Provine High School

According to Jackson Public Schools, at least two people were arrested Monday following an incident at Provine High School. The high school on Robinson Street was temporarily locked down due to reports of intruders on campus, a JPS news release said. JPS Campus Enforcement and Jackson police officers responded to the reports to the school. “We want to clarify that reports on social media about guns on campus and the stabbing of a security officer are false,” Sherwin Johnson, JPS's executive director of public engagement, said in a statement. Johnson did not say whether charges will be filed against the people arrested.

At least two people were taken into custody Monday following an incident at Provine High School, according to Jackson Public Schools.

According to a JPS press release, the Robinson Street High School was temporarily locked down due to reports of intruders on campus.

Officers from JPS Campus Enforcement and Jackson Police responded to the school.

“We want to make it clear that reports on social media about guns on campus and a security officer being stabbed are false,” Sherwin Johnson, executive director of public engagement at JPS, said in a statement.

Johnson did not say whether charges would be filed against those arrested.
