Drug seizure in Bernalillo County could lead to federal prosecution

A traffic stop led Bernalillo County officers to arrest a man for drug trafficking and impound a vehicle. The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office said James Guest was in the vehicle and there were warrants out for his arrest. The warrants were for trafficking in controlled substances and illegal possession of a firearm as a felon. He was eventually arrested on those warrants, as well as for resisting arrest and assault on a police officer during arrest. BCSO says Guest has a long criminal history in the area. Guest has been arrested a total of 26 times in Bernalillo County. These arrests are related to controlled substances, illegal possession of a firearm and driving under the influence. His vehicle was impounded and eventually searched, and over a pound of methamphetamine was found inside.
