Here is a recent MLB story from AP:

CHICAGO (AP) — The New York Yankees have some work to do, general manager Brian Cashman said. For now, at least, Jasson Domínguez will do his job in the minors.

New York is competing with the Baltimore Orioles for the AL East lead, and 21-year-old Domínguez is one of the team's most promising prospects. However, Domínguez is playing for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, while Alex Verdugo remains with the Yankees in left field.

“Jasson is doing everything he needs to do right now, and Verdugo is obviously playing better lately,” Cashman said before Friday's 3-0 win at the Chicago Cubs. “So the evaluations we do with our field staff, our player development staff and our front office staff are exactly what gives us the best chance of winning, and right now we're sticking with what we have, but we can always change our minds.”

Domínguez hit home runs for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday and Thursday. Before Friday's games, he had a .313 batting average with seven home runs, 24 RBIs and 15 steals in 41 games for the Triple-A club.

Domínguez, nicknamed “The Martian,” made his major league debut last year and hit four home runs in eight games before undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. He was called up to the Little League Classic last month and hit 0-for-4 home runs in New York's 3-2 loss to Detroit. He was sent back to the minor leagues after the game.

Verdugo, acquired in a trade from Boston in December, went 1 for 3 with a walk in New York's season-opening win at Wrigley Field. The 28-year-old outfielder has a .341 batting average (15 for 44) in his last 12 games and improved his season numbers to a .236 batting average with 11 home runs and 56 RBIs.

As major league rosters expanded to 28 players on Sunday, New York took first baseman Anthony Rizzo off the injured list and brought up outfielder/pinch-runner Duke Ellis from Triple-A as part of a series of transfers. But switch-hitter Domínguez remained in the minors.

“If he comes, he has to play. He's not going to come here and just sit around,” Cashman said.

New York had lost four of five games before the series in Chicago. Despite having one of the best teams in the major leagues with Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, they only managed a 31-38 record in the last 69 games after a fast start to the season.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone is taking a closer-by-committee approach after Clay Holmes gave up a game-winning grand slam in a 7-4 loss at Texas on Tuesday night. Holmes has blown 11 saves in 40 chances, a major league record.

Luke Weaver got a chance on Friday and made his first career save in his first opportunity in 199 major league appearances.

“I think the situation in the bullpen is that we have a lot of quality out there,” Cashman said, “and Boonie and his team, with Matt Blake leading the way as a pitcher, are trying to figure out what the best lane is for everyone right now, and if you obviously have to change things, then that's the way it is.”

Also on Friday, the Yankees sent right-hander Ron Marinaccio to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Left-hander Josh Maciejewski was sent directly to the team's best minor league affiliate.

Marinaccio, 29, has a 1-0 record and a 3.86 ERA in 16 appearances for New York this season.
