Brandon Aiyuk did not have a particularly positive start to the 2024 season.

The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver had problems in his team’s 32-19 win over the New York Jets on Monday Night FootballHe caught two passes for 28 yards on five attempts.

The 49ers led 13-7 and tried to score a touchdown just before halftime. Brock Purdy threw a pass to Aiyuk in the corner of the end zone. The ball hit the 26-year-old's hands, but he couldn't catch it and San Francisco settled for a field goal.

Fans were disappointed with his performance after he signed a generous four-year, $120 million contract extension on August 29.

Aiyuk waited throughout San Francisco's training camp for a new contract, leaving him less time to coordinate with Purdy before the team's season opener.

Aiyuk will look to find some consistency in San Francisco's game against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.
