Allen Lazard scores twice on Rodgers' return

Lazard caught six of nine passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns in Monday's 32-19 loss to the 49ers.

Early on, Lazard looked like the same player who caught just 23 of 49 passes for 311 yards last season. He dropped a catchable ball on his third attempt, ending the Jets' first drive, and finished the game without a catch on two passes in the first half. He turned things around in the second half, rekindling his chemistry with Aaron Rodgers from their days with the Packers with a 26-yard catch and a 36-yard touchdown pass in four plays. Lazard added a 3-yard touchdown catch in the final minute from backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who replaced Rodgers as a mop-up when the game was unwinnable. It took Lazard just one game to double his touchdown total from last season, and he should also play a major role in Week 2 against the Titans as the Jets slowly introduce fellow wide receiver Mike Williams (zero passes targeted) to start the season while Williams recovers from his torn ACL last September.
