Selling Sunset viewers shocked by surprise guest appearance in season 8 – insider reveals Chelsea Lazkani persuaded them to do it

Viewers of Selling Sunset were left stunned after British reality star Joey Essex made a cameo appearance in season 8. An insider told DailyMail.com that Chelsea Lazkani helped him get on the show.

The 34-year-old TV star made his surprise appearance in the fourth episode of the Netflix series when he and 27-year-old professional boxer Conor Benn met the real estate agent by chance as she was having dinner with her colleagues from the Oppenheim Group.

Joey then made another appearance in episode nine when Chelsea showed him a stunning property that was on offer for $5.25 million.

While viewers are wondering how the former 'Towie' star ended up on 'Selling Sunset', DailyMail.com has learned that he met 31-year-old Chelsea in LA and the pair became fast friends.

During their meeting, Joey mentioned that he was looking for a possible new home in the city, so Chelsea organized the filming.

In episode nine, Chelsea showed Joey a three-bedroom, four-bathroom property on Carman Crest Drive in Los Angeles that was listed for $5.25 million.

In conversation with the broker, she said about Joey: “My client only said one word: sexy.”

“He's from London and he's moving to LA. And as you know, people who move to LA want to be in the Hollywood Hills, with the view, and they want entertainment.

“He's a single boy and wants to impress the ladies.”

Joey was impressed when he toured the sprawling property.

He shared his immediate reaction with Chelsea: “Well, I like it, you have good taste. I'm glad you showed me this place.”

In the following scenes, Emma Hernan appeared at the show and quickly unsettled Joey.

“Wow, who are you?” he said. “Nice to meet you. You are beautiful.”

Real estate agent Chelsea Lazkani then showed him a stunning LA property that is on offer for $5.25 million.

The spacious residential complex had three bedrooms, four bathrooms and a pool

Joey shared his impression of the property and said, “Well, I like it, you have good taste. I'm glad you showed me this place.”

Joey continued, “I wasn't expecting that. Are you going to show me houses now?”

Chelsea replied, “So, brother, here's the thing: if you buy a house, it goes through me, and if you try to do it through my girlfriend, she'll tell me and you'll lose both of us.”

Joey's cameo ended after he took off his swim trunks and tried out the pool.

“If I buy this house, I have to try the pool,” he said. “I have my shorts in my pocket.”

In her confession, Emma said of the moment: “Joey's jump into the pool definitely saved my evening.”

“He looked pretty good shirtless, so points for Joey.”

Selling Sunset viewers couldn't believe their eyes when Joey appeared on their screens.

On X, formerly Twitter, it said: “It's official, Joey Essex has been on every reality show ever produced.”

Another wrote: “Joey Essex appearing on Selling Sunset wasn't on my bingo card.”

Joey's cameo on Selling Sunset comes after he appeared as a bombshell in the latest season of Love Island UK and found love with Jessy Pots.

After failing to secure a place in ITV2's final and being voted 'least compatible', the pair were spotted revealing their love at a launch party in Mayfair last week.

Their united appearance comes amid allegations that they faked their romance following their stay in the Love Island villa.

Joey appeared on Towie from 2011 to 2013 before taking part in a number of British reality shows including I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Celebrity Ex on the Beach and Dancing on Ice.
