Kacey Musgraves and Nickel Creek cover SZA's “Kill Bill”: Watch

It wasn't that long ago that Kacey Musgraves sang about rolling joints and getting too big for her britches. But these days she's leaning more and more towards country-style pop, as her latest album shows Deeper well. Last month, she made a surprise appearance on Sabrina Carpenter's Outside Lands, where they covered Nancy Sinatra's “These Boots Are Made For Walkin'.” Last week, during the opening night of her own tour, Musgraves covered Chappell Roan's “Pink Pony Club,” which is a good thematic transition from cowboys to rodeos. Last night, Musgraves recruited her opening act Nickel Creek to do an acoustic rendition of SZA's “Kill Bill.”

I like to think that Musgraves decided to cover “Kill Bill” because Kill Billthe film, is set partly in her home state of Texas. But she probably only picked it because it's a great song (one of the best of 2023, in fact). She and Nickel Creek sang it campfire-style in a circle under a Saturn model hanging from the ceiling. SZA also has a song called “Saturn.” Check out some fan-shot clips of the cover below.
