49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall poses with first responders who saved his life after a shooting at the game

San Francisco 49ers rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall stood in civilian clothes on the sidelines at Levi's Stadium on Monday night after being shot during an attempted robbery.

Before the game, first responders also stood on the sidelines and helped save Pearsall's life while he invited them to enjoy the team's opening game of the season.

The video shows Pearsall hugging the first responders, having a friendly chat with them and giving them signed jerseys.

49ers fans cheered as the interaction was shown on the big screen. Pearsall also appeared to write a message on the back of each jersey.

Pearsall, the 31st pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by San Francisco, was shot during a struggle with a 17-year-old suspect who has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a semi-automatic weapon and attempted second-degree robbery, with multiple weapons charges added last week.

The 17-year-old allegedly tried to steal Pearsall's luxury watch, which he was wearing on the way to his car.

“It's a miracle,” says coach Kyle Shanahan: 49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall survived a shooting

Pearsall was shot in the chest, and the bullet exited through his back without hitting any vital organs. Video of the incident showed emergency responders tending to Pearsall as he walked to an ambulance.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said he sent a message to the team shortly after the incident became known.

“Yeah, when everybody came in,” Shanahan said of the mood in the 49ers building after the team learned the news. “Nobody knew the exact story, so I was able to reassure everybody right away when they got there that he was perfectly fine and that it's a miracle. I think the spot where he was hit is about two inches below his praying hands tattoo. The whole story is kind of unbelievable.”

After Pearsall was treated in the hospital, he was finally able to speak to his teammates via FaceTime.

Pearsall was eventually released from San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center and was seen working at the team facility last week.

The 49ers would place him on the non-football injured list, giving him time to recover from the gunshot, shoulder and hamstring injuries he has struggled with throughout training camp.
