Adam Sandler joins ESPN2's “Manningcast” for Jets-Bills game

Comedian and actor Adam Sandler is already bringing Happy Gilmore back. Could Bobby Boucher be far behind?

Sandler will be the special guest star on tonight's season premiere on ESPN 2. Manningcastmoderated by Peyton and Eli Manning, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Manning's Omaha Productions has put together a preview featuring his character from the film:

Sandler, who also turns 58 on Monday, previously played football prodigy Bobby Boucher Jr. in the 1998 comedy “The Last Man.” The Waterboy – The guy with the water damageHe is also a diehard New York Jets fan and will watch his team play the San Francisco 49ers, a year after quarterback Aaron Rodgers had to leave the game against the Bills because of a torn Achilles tendon.

The comedian and actor is also promoting his new Netflix comedy special love you.

Sandler will join the Manning brothers in the second half of the game, while former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick will join them in the first half. Belichick has signed a deal with Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions to appear on the ESPN2 altcast throughout the season.

Manning said THR Last week, he said he decided to shake up the format this year by inviting Belichick and bringing in celebrities later in the game.

“We tried to study it every offseason, what we did last year, what we did well, what we can do better. And we thought, you know, what a unique opportunity to bring in Bill Belichick, to hear his views on defense, on a tough decision as a head coach,” Manning said. “He's going to fit right in because he doesn't like Eli that much because Eli beat him in two Super Bowls, so I'm glad to have him. I need a little more ammunition when Eli makes fun of my forehead.”

“We will still have the [rotating panelist of guests] in the second half,” he continued. “We tried to do a little study. We think fans still want to hear from a celebrity who loves this team, but they have to love football, and then they might hear from a current or former player, maybe in the fourth quarter when the game is on the line, to get some real insight.”
