Beyoncé defends the fact that she does not release music videos for her current albums

Beyonce stands by her decision not to release official music videos for her chart-topping albums “Renaissance” and “Cowboy Carter”… claiming the music speaks for itself.

The singer addresses her controversial decision in a new cover story for GQin which she explains why she decided to forgo the traditional music video release model after the release of her last albums.

She notes, “I thought it was important that the world could focus on the voice at a time when all we see is images… The music is so rich in history and instrumentation. It takes months to process, explore and understand. The music needs space to breathe on its own.”

Beyoncé says she didn't want the “quality” of her work to be compromised by visual elements – especially since a single album took more than four years to put together.

She adds: “The music is enough. The fans from all over the world became the visual. We all got the visual on the tour. Then we got more visuals from my film.”

Beyoncé notably released “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” a documentary concert film, instead of music videos… giving fans a Front row seat about their creative process. The project is clearly a hit with fans and has grossed over $44 million at the box office.

She's also released a series of lyric videos and visualizers for her hits from “Renaissance” and “Cowboy Carter” … which feels like a compromise of sorts.

While the Beyhive couldn't get enough of her recent albums – both debuted at number one on the charts – Beyoncé's foray into the genre faced resistance from the country scene.

This week the singer lock out the 2024 CMA Awards, but did not receive a single nomination despite its clear success on the charts.
