CubePilot’s NDAA-compliant MicroSD card for drone autopilots leaked (sort of) – sUAS News

Well, here's what's interesting: The MicroSD card in your drone could very well be a threat vector. CubePilot completed its first NDAA-compliant production run in Taiwan today.

Leaked by CubePilot CEO Philip Rowse on LinkedIn today. I'm not sure it's a leak if the CEO finds pictures lying around!

I sent Philip a message and asked why and he said:

“We designed it for those who need non-Chinese storage. It will be free in all future Cube autopilots and available for purchase for others.”

He added: “Not only have we manufactured the new card without using Chinese parts or labor, but we have also upgraded from a 16GB Class 4 card to a 64GB Class 10 card, which provides more space for logs. This move is a proactive response to growing security concerns, especially in industries where data privacy and national security are of paramount importance. By offering a non-Chinese storage option, CubePilot is demonstrating its commitment to providing secure and reliable solutions to its customers.”

There is a picture of a new carrier board for a Cube Orange+ called PowerCube ONE

Philip did not answer any questions about this!
