MetalCore updates to Unreal 5 ahead of Season 1 launch

As it prepares to enter open beta, the Immutable-based sci-fi shooter Metal core has made some significant changes behind the scenes.

The most important is the transition from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5, which, in addition to improving graphical fidelity, also optimizes performance and makes the game more accessible to lower-spec hardware.

Apart from technical improvements, the big news is MetalCores Moving from a series of closed beta tests to an ongoing open beta program. Season 1, titled MetalPunk Rhapsody, will go live on Thursday, September 12th.

Each season lasts four weeks and highlights a different example of the game's three factions. Season 1 focuses on the MetalPunks, hence the name. This is supported by themed content, skins, and storylines. Future seasons will cover the Gear Breakers and Holy Corp.

In general, developer Studio369 has also improved the onboarding flow for new players for Season 1 and – of course – added new PVP bounties and missions, including 10-player PVE raids.

Other new features include the introduction of unit rarities for mechs and vehicles, which are reflected in random strengths, stats, and attributes. Finally, progress will be tracked each season and rewarded in a new rewards system that offers limited-time prizes.

“With Season 1: MetalPunk Rhapsody, we are opening the game to all players,” said Matt Candler, CEO of Studio369.

“We've listened to our community and delivered the features they've been asking for, from UE5 graphics to Barony Wars. There's never been a better time to join Kerberos.”

Metal core is now available on the Epic Games Store, Season 1: MetalPunk Rhapsody releases Thursday, September 12th.
