The Javier Aguirre era started well for Mexico with a 3-0 win over New Zealand, but Canada will be a much tougher task for El Tri. The Canucks are riding a wave of confidence under Jesse Marsch and can end this international period with a win over their Concacaf rivals. After being held out of the squad against the USA with a hamstring strain, Canada right-back Alistair Johnston may not play, which could lead to a start for Richie Laryea.

Storylines

Mexico: After the win over New Zealand, Mexico is still waiting for goals from Santiago Gimenez. The 23-year-old striker has scored just four goals in 31 appearances for the national team and has failed to score in seven consecutive appearances. Mexico has been looking for a striker and Gimenez has been dominant in the Netherlands with Feyenoord, but his performance has not yet been proven. Facing a strong Canadian defense, Gimenez will need to be at his best.

Canada: Marsch has already proven he can prepare his team for any challenge. A well-organized defense makes things easier, but Jacob Shaffelburg's form has made the Canucks difficult to beat. When Mexico drops their guard, they either get dispossessed or beaten on the counter, making this game quite interesting.
