Patti LuPone refuses to apologize to Madonna on Hot Ones

Patti LuPone is not someone who bites her tongue – but she refuses to apologize.

When her boyfriend and former roommate Aubrey Plaza confronted her on an episode of “Hot Ones Versus” on Tuesday, the Broadway legend and “Agatha All Along” star refused to apologize to Madonna for calling her a “movie killer” and “terrible actress.”

The moment came during Round 3 of the hot wing eating contest series, in which the two actresses asked each other increasingly personal questions while eating increasingly spicier chicken wings. Plaza recalled a seven-year-old clip of LuPone on “Watch What Happens Live” in which she criticized Madonna's acting skills, telling her to “look at the camera and apologize to the pop icon or eat a Death Wing.”

LuPone didn't flinch as she stared into the camera, taking two big bites out of her Round 3 wing and throwing the rest out of the frame.

“I fucking knew it!” Plaza gushed. “You're sick. I'm in love with you. I love you.”

“I saw her, I saw her on stage and I saw her in a movie and I was like, 'Eh, OK.' You know? There are just things that some people can't do and you just have to admit that you can't do them, that's all,” LuPone mused as Plaza grew more excited and enthusiastic. “Don't even try. You can't do everything.”

“Marry me,” Plaza pleaded – but LuPone had more to say.

“Like Kim F–king Kardashian! Can we keep going? Or should I eat a wing?” LuPone joked before moving on to the next round.

The public feud between LuPone and Madonna came to light during her 2017 appearance on Bravo's late-night show hosted by Andy Cohen, but it was likely brewing before then. LuPone received recognition and a Tony Award in 1979 for her role as Argentine politician Eva Perón in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita. Madonna then played the same role in the film adaptation nearly 20 years later.

“She's dead behind the eyes,” LuPone said of Madonna's performance on “Watch What Happens Lives.” “She couldn't even act out of a paper bag. She shouldn't be in the movie or on the stage.”
