Nations League: Netherlands draw with Germany, Ireland loses to Greece | Nations League

The Netherlands and Germany played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in their Nations League Group A3 encounter in Amsterdam on Tuesday.

Deniz Undav scored on his first start for Germany and captain Joshua Kimmich scored the second to give the Dutch a 2-1 half-time lead after Tijjani Reijnders had scored for the Dutch after 100 seconds. Denzel Dumfries equalised early in the second half in a game defined by fast tempo and occasional outbursts of anger that made the match a thrilling derby.

After beating Bosnia and Herzegovina 5-2 in their opening match, the Netherlands got off to a dream start at the Johan Cruyff Arena. Ryan Gravenberch's perfect through ball allowed Reijnders to fire the ball past goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen and into the net. Dumfries headed a Xavi Simons free kick wide before Simons himself missed a chance after another precise pass from Gravenberch.

Germany had a lot of possession and equalized in the 38th minute. Jamal Musiala intercepted a bad pass from Matthijs de Ligt and set up Undav, who scored his first international goal. The visitors then took the lead in stoppage time in the first half: Robert Andrich's long diagonal ball was played back over the goal by David Raum, allowing the unmarked Kimmich to score at the far post.

Nathan Aké was forced off shortly before half-time with a possible thigh injury and was replaced by Jurriën Timber. Ronald Koeman replaced De Ligt at half-time with Brighton's Jan Paul van Hecke. Five minutes into the second half, striker Brian Brobbey kept the defenders at bay and Dumfries equalised.

Julian Nagelsmann's team wasted three good opportunities to regain the lead: Kai Havertz missed from close range, Undav tried unsuccessfully to lob goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen and Raum headed wide of the far post. Germany remain top of their group on goal difference, while Hungary and Bosnia drew goalless in Budapest.

In League B Republic of IrelandThe misery in the Nations League continued, Greece emerged from their trip to Dublin in Group 2 with a 2-0 win. Fotis Ioannidis and Christos Tzolis scored in the second half to ensure the hosts remained pointless after two games under new head coach Heimir Hallgrímsson.

It could have been different had Chiedozie Ogbene not been ruled offside before he produced a superb finish from a Jayson Molumby pass in the first half. After a hard-fought first half, Greece took the lead within five minutes of the restart when Ioannidis curled a left-foot shot from the edge of the box past Caoimhin Kelleher.

Jason Knight headed Ogbene's cross wide as the Republic responded. Hallgrímsson also brought on striker Evan Ferguson for Molumby after the hour mark. Will Smallbone had a chance to equalise with ten minutes left, but Robbie Brady's back pass missed.

Adam Idah and Callum Robinson also came into play late in the game, with the latter's shot going just wide. Tzolis then struck at the last second when he evaded Nathan Collins after being played in behind the Irish defence and shot emphatically past Kelleher to secure Greece's victory.

In Group B1, two goals from Pavel Sulc in the first half and a penalty from Tomas Soucek in the final phase ensured Czech Republic a 3-2 victory over UkraineSulc headed home Vaclav Cerny's shot to open the scoring, but Vladyslav Vanat headed home Mykola Shaparenko's cross to equalise.
