Authorities search for vehicle involved in road rage incident in Wagoner County

The Wagoner County Sheriff's Office is still searching for a vehicle involved in a driving aggression incident last month.

The back roads of East 221st Street South and State Highway 104 can be pretty quiet, but the Wagoner County intersection looked a little different on August 28.

“A man called us because he was traveling on Highway 104 and another vehicle pulled out in front of him and almost caused an accident,” said Jake Carey, an investigator with the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office.

Investigator Carey said the caller feared for his life when two men began attacking his car.

“They took chains out of his car, came back and started hitting his car with those chains,” Carey said.

Carey said the victim pulled out his gun and pointed it at the people who were hitting his car, and they walked away. He said the sheriff's office frequently responds to road rage incidents.

“I used to be on patrol, and we were able to respond to at least two or three cases a week pretty easily.”

Carey said this incident could have ended much worse.

“When there are road rage incidents, a lot of people are just really out of control, their adrenaline is going, they tend to make bad decisions. So a situation like this could have gotten bad very, very quickly,” Carey said.

If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, Carey says you should stay calm and call the police.

“You never know if someone has a gun in their car. And then you provoke something, start something, and they pull out a gun and shoot you. Then the best thing to do is just keep driving,” Carey said.

The Wagoner County Sheriff's Office said they are still looking for the drivers of the vehicle.

Officers said they were looking for a red and gray 2000 Dodge truck with green painted bumpers.
