Gardena fruit vendor goes viral for prayer – NBC Los Angeles

A Gardena fruit vendor's moment of faith went viral after he was filmed kneeling and praying before starting his workday.

A widely shared video of Luis Angel Morales was posted on TikTok earlier this week and has since received more than 1 million views. The video, captured by another user, shows Morales praying in front of his fruit cart. The text on the screen reads: “Support street vendors, hopefully he makes money.”

“I have a lot of trust in God,” said Morales, a devout Catholic.

The fruit vendor said he came to the United States from Puebla, Mexico, just two months ago, bringing with him his zeal to support his family back home and his faith. He said his morals were instilled in him by his parents.

Morales is a family-oriented person and works 13-hour shifts, 7 days a week at the fruit stand to provide for his wife and two young children who are still in Mexico. He said although he misses them, he knows the sacrifice he makes by being apart for them is a great support to them.

“My business is to make money to provide for my family,” he said.

The viral video has helped Morales achieve his goal of providing for his family. He said since it was posted, he has seen a significant increase in his clientele. Despite the popularity, his mission remains the same and he said he will continue his workday with the practice that made him viral.

Anyone wanting to buy fruit from Morales can find him selling mangoes, watermelons, pineapples and other fresh fruit near the intersection of Orchard Avenue and Redondo Beach Boulevard.
