911 emergency call regarding the death of rapper Rich Homie Quan released

ATLANTA (WANF/Gray News) – Atlanta Police have released the incident report and 911 call regarding the death of rapper Rich Homie Quan.

Police said they were called to an emergency room at a home on Hampton Forest Drive around 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 5 and found Quan, whose real name is Dequantes Devontay Lamar, unconscious.

He was taken by ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Fulton County Coroner's Office has not yet determined an official cause of death.

The incident report states that the officer in charge found no evidence of third-party negligence.

Quan was born on October 4, 1989 in Atlanta. His performance at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta was scheduled for September 19.

He began his career in 2011. Quan had his first mainstream success with his 2013 single “Type of Way”, which peaked at number 50 on the Billboard Hot 100.

His 2015 single “Flex” was again successful, reaching number 26 in the charts.

In September 2014, Quan's father, Corey Lamar, was injured when his hair salon was shot at.

Fulton County prosecutors are trying to link the incident to an alleged criminal gang led by Young Thug, who is currently on trial in Atlanta on numerous criminal and gang-related charges.
