Investigations into the death of an 18-month-old girl continue after parents found the girl unconscious

An 18-month-old girl is dead after her family says she ingested a substance at a southeast Indiana store. The Dearborn County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation. 18-month-old Azana Trentman loved life and everything that came with it. Her family says her favorite things were cats, horses and Cinderella. Last Wednesday, the Trentmans' world was turned upside down. According to the Dearborn County Sheriff's Office, the young girl's parents called 911 Wednesday afternoon to say Azana was unresponsive and had ingested a substance at a store. Azana was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was transferred to Cincinnati Children's. On Sunday, the family received the news no parent wanted to hear: The 18-month-old girl was brain dead. Azana left something behind. She was an organ donor and gave the gift of life. She was able to help save three children. According to their own statements, the investigators are waiting for the forensic report and cannot yet say where the girl took the substance.

Last Wednesday, Trentman's world was turned upside down. According to the Dearborn County Sheriff's Office, the young girl's parents called 911 on Wednesday afternoon and said Azana was unresponsive and had taken a substance at a store.

Azana was admitted to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lawrenceburg. From there she was transferred to Cincinnati Children's.

On Sunday, the family received the news that no parent wanted to hear: the 18-month-old boy was brain dead.

Azana left something behind. She was an organ donor and gave life. She was able to help save three children.

According to investigators, they are waiting for the coroner's report and cannot yet say where the girl took the substance.
