Jayam Ravi and wife Aarti announce separation and demand privacy

Tamil actor Jayam Ravi announced on September 9 that he is separating from his wife Aarti. He released a statement in Tamil and English, explaining that the decision to “dissolve his marriage with Aarti” was taken after careful consideration. He also asked for privacy and understanding during this difficult time. A few months ago, news of their separation started doing the rounds after Aarti deleted photos with him from her Instagram page.

Ravi shared a post about his X-name and wrote, “Grateful for your love and understanding (sic).”

He began his statement by explaining that he has always been transparent and honest with his fans and the media. “It is with a heavy heart that I must share a deeply personal update with you all,” the statement said.

He further wrote, “After much thought, reflection and discussion, I have made the difficult decision to dissolve my marriage to Aarti. This decision was not made hastily but is based on personal reasons that I believe are in the best interest of all parties involved.”

Jayam Ravi also asked people to respect their privacy. “In view of this, I hereby politely request all of you to respect our privacy as well as that of our family members during this difficult time and appeal to all of you not to make any assumptions, rumours or allegations in this regard and keep the matter private,” he wrote.

Expressing his priority, the 'Ponniyin Selvan' actor wrote, “My priority has always remained the same – to continue to bring joy and entertainment to my dearest audience through my films. I am and will always be your Jayam Ravi – who has been appreciated by all of you throughout my career and as an actor dedicated to my craft and commitment to showcase the best of my talent. Your constant support means the world to me and I am grateful for the love you have showered on me over the years (sic),” he wrote.

Earlier this year, Aarti and Jayam Ravi made headlines after rumours of their divorce started circulating.

Jayam Ravi and his wife Aarti got married in June 2009. They are parents of two sons, Aarav and Ayaan.
