Winning ticket for $800 million Mega Millions jackpot sold in Texas

According to the Mega Millions website, someone in Texas just won the Mega Millions jackpot estimated at $800 million.

Only one ticket matched all six numbers in Tuesday night's drawing, winning the seventh-largest Mega Millions jackpot of all time. It was also the 17th-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history (see lists below).

The winning ticket was sold at Murphy's Express gas station on Highway 90A in Sugar Land, Texas.

The winner can also opt to win the estimated $404.2 million cash prize. The final jackpot amount will be determined based on actual sales.

The jackpot was last won on June 4, when a lottery player from Illinois won $552 million.

The Mega Millions jackpot resets to $20 million for Friday night's drawing.

Tickets for NY, Florida, Washington and California are big winners

In addition to the jackpot winner, there were million-dollar prizes on four tickets with five white balls.

In New York, Florida and Washington, tickets won $1 million each, while in California, one ticket won $605,656, as non-jackpot prizes are based on actual sales in the state.
