WATCH: Bengaluru road rage caught on camera, taxi driver's outburst goes viral | Bengaluru

A shocking dashcam video from August 5 captured another dramatic incident of road rage in Bengaluru, sending shockwaves through social media and raising concerns about a rise in aggressive driving cases in the city.

This incident underlines the worrying rise in road rage in Bengaluru, following a fatal confrontation involving a motorcyclist last month. (X)

The footage, widely shared on X, shows a heated altercation near Kadugodi where a taxi driver's anger escalates after an overtaking manoeuvre. The video shows the taxi driver aggressively approaching the victim's car and trying to rip open the door while shouting insults. The taxi had earlier passed close to the victim's vehicle, leading the driver to suspect a minor scratch.

To defuse the situation, the driver in the car sprayed pepper spray at the angry taxi driver. However, this action proved ineffective as the taxi driver took a pair of pliers out of his vehicle and began smashing the victim's car.

Responding to the viral video, the Bengaluru city police directed the Kadugodi police station to investigate the incident. A Kadugodi police spokesperson pointed out that the victim has not yet filed an official report.

“When I got home, I checked the car where I initially thought we had collided. There was not a single scratch. The dents on his car seemed to have been there before and I now suspect that he wanted to blame me for them. An elderly man at the accident scene kept scolding me instead of stopping the driver from damaging my car. I remained sitting in my car, scared for my life, but I insisted on getting the matter sorted out at the police station,” a social media post read.

“I have now repaired the damage to my car but I am still traumatised. I have heard stories of people being chased and beaten after incidents like this so I am terrified to report it. I am attaching dashcam footage of the entire encounter and would be really grateful for any help or guidance,” it continued.

This incident followed another tragic incident of road rage last month in Vidyaranyapura, where a motorcyclist was killed after a car rammed into his motorcycle following a heated argument. CCTV footage that went viral showed the car chasing the motorcycle at high speed before the collision, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist from grievous injuries.

There has been a worrying rise in road rage incidents in Bengaluru in recent months. Another viral video shows a bouncer attacking a couple's car on Sarjapur Road recently, breaking the window and causing a riot, further highlighting the increasing aggression on Bengaluru's streets.
