TikToker posts ‘concerned’ post before her death at Disney Half Marathon

A TikToker who died just moments after running the Halloween Half Marathon at Disneyland on Sunday posted a haunting video the day before he took part in the race.

Bobby Graves – who went by his middle name Caleb on social media – was a travel blogger and Disney fan who primarily shared running tips and insights into his regular trips to the theme park on TikTok.

Last weekend, Southern California saw triple-digit temperatures coinciding with the marathon. AccuWeather reports that on Sunday in Anaheim, where Disneyland is located, the high was 108 degrees Fahrenheit (42 degrees Celsius) and the low was 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 degrees Celsius).

Accordingly PeopleGraves held his chest as he crossed the finish line. Now a video he posted the day before his collapse and death, in which he said he had “no control” over his body and was “vulnerable” to the extreme heat, is gaining popularity online.

Newsweek reached out to Disneyland and Sergeant Matt Sutter, Anaheim Police Department spokesman, via email outside of normal business hours on Wednesday for comment.

“The Disneyland Half Marathon – the Halloween Half Marathon – is tomorrow and I'm a little worried right now,” Graves says in the video posted to his account @calebgtravels.

“I don't know if that's the case – I was outside today around 2 p.m., which is probably the hottest time of day, it's like 90 degrees. And you know, there are other parts of the country where it's obviously hotter… But I grew up in Texas and I know what heat is like, but the UV exposure in the Southern California heat is a whole beast of its own.”

“Anyway, I may be a little sensitive to heat, I don't know if it's temporary or long-term. I was outside for about 20 minutes, walking my dog, just walking around the block and it was hot, but I felt fine and then I came inside and then about 10 minutes after I came back inside, I just passed out.”

“I just fell asleep – no control of my body. It was heat exhaustion, that's only happened to me once before… I don't know what's going on, but I really hope I can make it through the race tomorrow morning. The fact that it's early will help me because it's not nice to just lose control of your body and just fall asleep like that.”

According to an official statement from Anaheim Police Sergeant Matt Sutter, Graves collapsed after crossing the finish line and was immediately treated by emergency personnel.

“The race started at 5 a.m. I don't know which starting wave he was in, but he crossed the finish line at about 7 a.m.,” Sutter said People.

“As soon as he crossed the finish line, he started clutching his chest. One of the workers noticed this, ran to him and caught him before he collapsed. Firefighters and rescue workers were on the scene immediately. The rescue workers couldn't have arrived any faster.”

Sutter added that paramedics “performed life-saving measures and immediately took him to the hospital. They worked on him for an hour, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.”

The police sergeant told the LA Just that Graves had no known medical conditions prior to his death. The TikToker was no newbie to marathon running, having previously run marathons and half marathons, including at Disney World in Orlando in 2023 and early 2024.

The coroner is still investigating the cause of his cardiac arrest.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss and our thoughts are with Caleb's family and loved ones during this difficult time,” Disneyland Resort spokeswoman Jessica Good said in a statement. Learn more.
