Follow live the ceremony in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, to commemorate the victims of the crash of hijacked Flight 93 in an open field on September 11, 2001.

US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will mark the 23rd anniversary of the September 11 attacks on Wednesday by visiting all three sites where the hijacked planes crashed in 2001, killing nearly 3,000 people.

First, the two will visit the site in New York City where planes brought down the twin towers of the World Trade Center.

Vice President Harris, currently the Democratic presidential candidate, was scheduled to travel to New York after her debate with her Republican rival Donald Trump in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, just eight weeks before the November 5 presidential election.

No memorial service is planned at the site where relatives will read out the names of the dead.

Former President Trump said he would also attend the ceremony in New York City along with his running mate JD Vance.

President Biden and Mrs Harris will then fly to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where passengers on United Flight 93 overpowered the hijackers and crashed the plane in a field, preventing it from hitting another target.

They then return to the Washington area to visit the Pentagon Memorial.
