DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro leak suggests a price hike, but for a very good reason

New leaks about the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro appear to reveal the Euro price of the action cam's Adventure Combo package, along with our first look at some of the features it might include.

According to well-known DJI leaker @JasperEllens on X (formerly Twitter), the Osmo Action 5 Pro Adventure Combo, which includes two additional batteries, a charging case, and a 1.5m selfie stick, will cost €479.

The list price in euros for the same Osmo Action 4 package is €429 on the DJI Store, although it is currently on offer for €379, presumably ahead of rumors of the launch of the Osmo Action 5 Pro, scheduled for later this month.

That represents a price increase of around 10% for the next-generation model. Following that logic, we estimate the Adventure Combo will cost around $449/£419 in the US and UK, although of course the Action 5 Pro will likely also be available in the cheaper standard Combo package.

The same leak also hints at the top features of rival Go Pro Hero 13 Black, which include a 40MP camera, night mode, super slow motion, and 64GB of internal storage.

@JasperEllens previously shared images of the Action 5 Pro's packaging on X, suggesting that the action cam's lens and sensor will be identical to that of its predecessor, the Action 4. It's a f/2.8 lens with a 155-degree field of view, and a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor. However, new leaks suggest that the Action 5 Pro will shoot 40MP photos.

If the camera resolution is right, that's quite a jump over the Osmo Action 4, which can only shoot 10MP photos but offers the best low-light performance of any action camera we've tested. We're hoping that DJI can maintain impressive low-light image quality despite an apparent increase in pixels.

Previous leaks at Notebookcheck suggest that the Super Slow-Mo mode will support frame rates of up to 960 frames per second. There's also a new Night Mode, although details aren't yet known. Another new feature has also come to light: onboard storage.

What does the nickname “Pro” mean?

According to the leak, the Action 5 Pro will have 64GB of internal storage, a feature that rival action cameras don't offer and could come in particularly handy when you're on the move – either as a backup for your micro SD memory card in case it gets damaged, or if you simply forget to pack one.

The built-in storage could also be a reason why DJI increased the price, although there is also the “Pro” designation, which we have not seen in DJI's action cam range yet.

DJI's use of “Pro” seems odd, as the leaks don't suggest anything that would suggest a significant upgrade. Could more high-end features be on the way, too? Aside from what appears to be a more powerful 1,950mAh battery (the Action 4 has a mediocre 1,770mAh battery), we just don't know yet. But if the suggested launch dates for later this month are accurate, we won't have to wait long to find out.
