Jalen Hurts “devastated” by the death of the legendary R&B singer

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was recently asked, “If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?”

“There's a Frankie Beverly live album that I listen to. This is it,” said Hurts as he picked up the Maze album “Live in New Orleans.” “I could listen to this for the rest of my life. …

“I think the live album feeling gives you the presence, like you're really there. I think my favorite tracks on it are 'Happy Feelings' and 'Joy and Pain'.”

Beverly led Maze through the live performance at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans in 1980, which was released as an album in 1981.

When Beverly's family announced the singer's death on Wednesday, it was a hard blow for the NFL Pro Bowler.

“His timeless music, his powerful words and his lasting impact,” Hurts wrote on social media. “I am devastated to hear this. My prayers are with the Beverly family and the many Frankie fans around the world! His legacy will live on forever. Rest in peace my friend. Long live Frankie.”

Hurts led the Eagles to a 34-29 victory over the Green Bay Packers in their season opener in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Friday.
