Relaxed cat gets head massage and goes viral: “I want one too”

A pampered cat getting a head massage has gone viral, garnering over half a million views.

Dylan (@dylanotis12) took to TikTok to share adorable footage of his British Shorthair cat, Jay Catsby, enjoying a head massage with his own little massage machine. The video quickly captivated viewers, garnering 70,700 likes and 542,600 views.

“I need this,” said one onlooker, entranced by the cat’s pampering session.

The footage shows Jay Catsby lying peacefully on his bed while the massager gently rubs his head, putting the cat in a state of complete bliss.

The British Shorthair is known for its calm and friendly nature, making it one of the most popular cat breeds in the world. These cats are recognizable by their round face, thick coat, and sturdy build. British Shorthairs are affectionate but not overly demanding, making them a great companion for cat lovers looking for a laid-back pet. Their laid-back nature is clearly evident in the clip of Jay Catsby enjoying a lot of pampering.

Cat owners wondering how to give their four-legged friends a similar experience can find more than just relaxation in a cat massage. A massage can reduce anxiety, improve circulation and strengthen the bond between pet and owner, according to Purina's website.

Starting with gentle strokes around the head and shoulders, cat massages should be a mutually beneficial experience. Massaging your cat not only provides physical relief, but also helps release toxins that cause pain, similar to humans.

In Jay Catsby's case, a massager is the solution. Cat massagers like the one used in the video are becoming increasingly popular because they mimic human hands and can provide targeted pressure and soothing vibrations. With a variety of settings, these devices help pamper your pet while you relax and watch the cat enjoy it.

Onlookers were keen to know where the cat owner got his device and expressed their admiration for the spectacle. Fortunately, head massagers are available from many online retailers.

“I want one, but for myself,” said one spectator.

“Okay, but where can I get something like that for myself?” commented another.

In addition to massage, calming activities such as quiet time, dim lighting, or a cozy corner can help relax even the most nervous cat.
