What we know about the police incident in Miami

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill said he was unsure why police officers forcibly dragged him from his vehicle and then detained him in a wild altercation before Sunday's season-opening game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It was a scene that made him ask, “What if I wasn’t Tyreek Hill?”

“I really have no idea. No idea. No idea, man. It's crazy. No idea,” Hill said Sunday when asked why he was handcuffed.

“I wasn't disrespectful because my mother didn't raise me that way. I didn't swear. I didn't do anything like that. So, like I said, I'm still trying to figure it out, man.”

Hill was released shortly after his arrest and helped the Dolphins to a 20-17 victory.

Body camera footage released by police Monday night showed Hill being forcibly dragged from his car by police.

Campbell, winner of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award, was also handcuffed by Miami-Dade police as he tried to defuse the situation.

Campbell said the officer told him that if he didn't move his car, it would be towed because it was blocking traffic. When Campbell replied that he would not leave the scene of the accident, the officer said, “That's enough. You are under arrest,” according to Campbell. Campbell was then handcuffed.

“The celebration was planned,” Hill said. “Of course we had other things planned. Then this all happened this morning.”

Will Tyreek Hill file charges against the Miami-Dade Police Department?

Drew Rosenhaus, Hill's agent, told the Miami Herald that Hill's legal team will “pursue this matter on Tyreek's behalf.”

“What happened to Tyreek in the stadium today is completely unacceptable,” Rosenhaus told the Miami Herald. “Tyreek did not deserve to be treated like that by the police involved.”
