Six people have to be hospitalized after an accident on the Beltline

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Six people were taken to the hospital after a crash Tuesday afternoon on the Beltline, including the driver who was stuck in his vehicle, the Madison Fire Department reported Wednesday.

According to MFD, emergency crews responded to the westbound lane of the Beltline at South Whitney Way shortly before 4 p.m.

The accident involved a sedan with six passengers.

The driver, who was trapped in the vehicle, was rescued by the fire department, authorities report.

Another passenger had to be rescued from the back seat by paramedics.

According to MFD, some passengers had already left the vehicle before authorities arrived on the scene.

Two people were taken to hospital with critical injuries, while others suffered significant or minor injuries.

The numerous emergency responders who responded to the accident included four MFD ambulances, as well as Fitch-Rona EMS and Oregon EMS.

The accident caused the westbound lanes of the Beltline at Whitney Way to be closed for several hours.
