Mets end Bowden Francis' no-hitter attempt with a home run from Francisco Lindor

For the second time in 18 days, Toronto Blue Jays starter Bowden Francis' no-hit attempt was thwarted by a home run in the ninth inning.

On Wednesday, Francis held the New York Mets hitless for eight innings and returned to the bench in the ninth inning after striking out 108 pitches, but allowed a leadoff home run by Francisco Lindor to tie the game 1-1.

It was a déjà vu for Francis, who had also pitched a no-hitter against the Los Angeles Angels until the ninth inning on August 24 – but Taylor Ward began the period with a solo home run.

Dave Stieb's no-hitter in 1990 remains the only one in Blue Jays franchise history.
