Halle Bailey's new single “Because I Love You” debuts on Billboard

Halle Bailey, alias Halle, has once again released a new single that is off to a flying start on the Billboard charts.

“Because I Love You,” which Halle co-wrote with RAYE, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard R&B Digital Song Sales chart for the week of September 14.

It is Halle's third solo entry on this list, which features “the most downloaded R&B songs of the week, compiled by Luminate.”

It is also her third consecutive top-five hit on that sales chart, following “In Your Hands” and “Angel,” which debuted at number 3 and number 2, respectively.

On the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Sales, “Because I Love You” is one of this week’s five new entries, opening at No. 11. It also debuts at No. 16 on the Hot R&B Songs chart, where Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby” holds the top spot for its 19th week.

Halle's “Because I Love You” was released on August 30th via Parkwood Entertainment/Columbia Records. The song was produced by Dem Jointz, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter's frequent collaborator.

Halle explained about the new single: “'Because I Love You' is a song for anyone who has ever been deeply in love. It's an anthem that tells the story of all the wonderful passion and euphoria you can feel with that person.”

A beautiful, haunting video for “Because I Love You” was released simultaneously with the official audio on streaming platforms. Allie Avital directed the video, while Lottie Abrahams produced it.

“The video goes deeper into how vulnerable it makes you feel,” Halle said. “I hope people enjoy listening and think about the person they love most.”

As mentioned, “Because I Love You” is Halle’s second song release in 2024. It follows “In Your Hands,” which was released in March.

Before premiering these two songs, she released her first solo track, “Angel,” in 2023, which was subsequently nominated for a Grammy.

Apart from the music, Halle will play the main role in The linea fraternity drama directed by Ethan Berger. The film will open in select theaters on October 18th and then air nationwide on October 23rd.
