Hazmat teams investigate the site of a gas leak in Scottsdale

The leak was reported in the area of ​​100th Street and Thompson Peak Parkway.

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona – The Scottsdale Fire Department is responding to a large gas leak reported Wednesday in the area of ​​100th Street and Thompson Peak Parkway.

Hazmat teams from Phoenix and Scottsdale are on site measuring levels in the area as crews work to fix the gas leak. The incident appears to have been caused by a gas meter being damaged.

The fire department said that apartments west of the site had been evacuated. Traffic in this area may be restricted for some time.
