Watch Halsey's performance of “Ego” at the 2024 MTV VMAs

Halsey returned to the MTV Video Music Awards stage on Wednesday night with a performance of her new song “Ego.”

After riding her bike to a house on stage, the singer opened a garage door to reveal her band waiting inside. Halsey quickly grabbed her guitar and started rocking out in the garage, playing the single from her upcoming album: The great imitator.

Halsey's return to the VMA stage comes years after her last appearance at the awards show in 2016, when she teamed up with The Chainsmokers for their collaboration “Closer.” The “Bad At Love” singer was also previously nominated for seven VMAs.

“I made this record in the space between life and death,” Halsey previously wrote about the album on social media. “And it feels like I've waited forever for you guys to get it. I'm going to wait a little longer. I've already waited a decade.”
