Lollipop Chainsaw RePop stays true to the original, with the same bloodshed, Xbox achievements, and more

We don't have to wait long to dive into the achievements of Lollipop Chainsaw RePop, as the remastered action game is coming to Xbox Series X|S on September 12th in the West and September 25th worldwide – it will also be coming to Xbox One later this year. Ahead of the game's release, developer Dragami Games confirmed that Lollipop Chainsaw RePop stays true to the original.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePop has the same content and achievements as the original game

Lollipop Chainsaw RePop is coming this month in two different modes: Original and a new RePop mode with less violence and comic-style damage effects. While Original mode has all the familiar goodness of the original Lollipop Chainsaw game, Dragami says that some gameplay tweaks have been made, but nothing has changed in terms of content.

As Yoshimi Yasuda, founder of Dragami Games and producer of Lollipop Chainsaw RePop, shared on X, “The original mode reproduces the same gore expression, cutscene production, character design, movement, cartoon-like character image, costumes, achievements, etc. as the original version. There were no change requests for this original mode from any platform that we submitted for approval.”

As for the changes the team made, Yasuda says that all parameters in the original mode have been adjusted to make it a modern action game. “These include attack power, movement speed, camera movement range, combo input acceptance time, initial combo skills, etc. Other changes include the number of bullets remaining in the blaster, changes to the behavior of pitch techniques, [the] Adding an automatic QTE option, changing completing all levels in Ranked Mode to a time attack, changes to the shop lineup, price adjustments, adding a combo attack system, image quality, resolution, FPS, and adding Yukari Tamura's voice.”

Yasuda says that some bug fixes and quality of life improvements were “overlooked during the final review of the original version” that were corrected in RePop mode. “We submitted a Day 1 patch, but this is not a fix request from the platform provider; rather, our goal is to fix bugs and improve the quality of Ranking Mode.”

While we haven't seen the Xbox achievements yet, our colleagues at TrueTrophies have shared the Lollipop Chainsaw RePop trophies, which are identical to those from the original PS3 game, so we're guessing it will be the same on Xbox – and yes, it will include that one controversial achievement.
