Katy Perry's ripped bra and skirt at the 2024 VMAs give her a glamorous Egyptian mummy look

Katy Perry is the winner of this year's Video Vanguard Award at the 2024 VMAs, which, in case you didn't know, is a pretty big deal. The award is the ceremony's highest honor, and previous winners include Beyoncé, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Shakira, and—oh yeah, the Beatles. Just to name a few! Think of it as the equivalent of a lifetime achievement award, if you will.

Not only did Katy take home the top prize (which was presented to Katy by her fiancé Orlando Bloom. Too sweet!), but she also took the stage to perform a medley of some of her biggest hits. Truly iconic, but we're getting ahead of ourselves here. Let's rewind to last night. [Wednesday 11 September] red carpet as Sabrina Carpenter, Addison Rae and Tyla arrived in style.

Just like Katy, who hit the red carpet in a completely shredded white one-shoulder bra top and matching maxi skirt by Who Decides War.

Katy went all accessories aside from a black metal arm cuff she wore around her upper bicep, instead letting her outfit do the talking. As for her beauty look, she wore her long dark locks in a wet-look style with strands sticking to her face. If her shiny torso, which is on full display, is anything to go by, she also appears to have rubbed herself in body oil.

We can't decide whether the look, with its torn fabric that looks a bit like a bandage, is more reminiscent of the chic look of a desert island or the glamorous Egyptian mummy.

Oh, and as mentioned, Orlando Bloom was also there, walking hand in hand with Katy on the red carpet.

The actor looked smart in a black suit and a simple black T-shirt so as not to overshadow Katy on her big night. Not that he ever couldto be honest.
