Wise County Crime Report for Thursday, September 12, 2024

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7

County Road 2585 — Officers found a vehicle on the roadway with the driver's door open. It was later determined that a male driver exited the vehicle and ran into the Grasslands. Officers assisted in towing the vehicle.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3

HLAVEK — A woman reported that someone attempted to fraudulently transfer $12,000 from a bank account to a Garden Groove account somewhere in California. She was able to unplug the computer before the transfer went through.

County Road 4591 — A man stated he had been assaulted the night before and now wanted officers and paramedics to intervene. He told his nephew he wanted to leave the property. The plaintiff, his nephew, and the nephew's wife agreed that he could remain on the property in a converted tractor-trailer used as a motorcycle repair shop for the duration of his truck being repaired. Officers were told the man came to the back porch of the main house uninvited and unwelcome. He was asked multiple times to leave the house, but he sat on the back porch and refused to leave the main house multiple times. The nephew struck his uncle. The uncle left the house for the duration of the night.

PAVO DRIVE — The complainant stated that 80 sheets of plywood were stolen from a residential construction site late Friday night or very early Saturday morning. The officer collected all relevant documents as well as CCTV footage.

Private road 4813 – A known individual reportedly broke into a trailer on the complainant’s property and stole numerous tools and equipment belonging to a construction contractor.

R&R RIDE — The plaintiff reported that a mutual friend could not be reached in person or by cell phone. Officials conducted an investigation and entered the man into a missing persons database.

County Road 3386 – A surveillance camera was reportedly stolen from a construction site.

Private road 4004 — A man left his vehicle at a mechanic in January. The complainant attempted to get his vehicle back, but the mechanic did not call back. The complainant has receipts for payment and a contract for the work. An incident report was prepared to document the civil dispute.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

FARMSTREET 718 — The deputy was traveling south on FM 718 in Newark and observed a vehicle traveling north without license plate lights. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. He followed the vehicle to Old Base Road and attempted to make a traffic stop. The vehicle accelerated and turned onto Bennett Drive. The driver then turned right onto Runway Lane without using his turn signal and then turned left onto Airfield Road. The driver accelerated and turned left onto FM 718. The vehicle came to a stop near the 1400 block of FM 718 in Newark. The deputy took the driver into custody. Deputies transported the man to the Wise County Jail.

Coyote Trail — The plaintiff reported a possible squatter on the property. The man was located and found to have permission to enter the property. The man had a warrant out of Wise County for his arrest. He went to jail.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5

Southbound US 81/287 — An officer observed a vehicle failing to yield the right of way to a stationary emergency vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted. The driver had active Levelland Police warrants for resisting arrest and transportation. During the course of the arrest, the driver was found to have drug paraphernalia in his pocket. After a search of the vehicle, officers located drug paraphernalia and cocaine. The passenger was taken into custody and transported to the Wise County Jail where officers conducted a strip search and found numerous quantities of drugs including crack, fentanyl, oxycodone, ecstasy, and powder cocaine. The individual was charged with manufacture/delivery of multiple drug groups.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6

Private road 4215 — Parties from multiple households were upset because the other party's animals were entering their property. All parties wanted the parties to warn each other about trespassing.

ILLINOIS STREET – A man stated that he believed someone broke into his storage unit and took a welding machine.

BOAT DRIVE — Officers were dispatched to the address where a 6-year-old was experiencing a nervous breakdown. The child was diagnosed with DMDD and his daily routine was disrupted due to recent weather. Paramedics arrived on scene, escorted the child out and loaded him into the ambulance to be transported to Cook Children's Behavioral Unit without further incident at the parents' request. No violations occurred and an incident report was taken for future reference.

County Road 4854 — Plaintiff said a neighbor shot his dog. The alleged suspect had previous encounters with the plaintiff's dogs coming onto his property and behaving aggressively toward him, his children, and his dogs. The alleged suspect warned the plaintiff several times that he would use deadly force against the plaintiff's dogs if they ever came onto his property again. The deputy counseled the plaintiff and explained to him that he was responsible for his dogs and that they were not allowed to roam free.

Coyote Trail — Officers met with the plaintiff in the lobby of the sheriff's office to take a report of harassment. The plaintiff's ex-husband sent text messages to the plaintiff's husband, threatening him with a fight.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7

Private road 4907 – A woman reported that another person in her home treated her badly.

Private road 3459 — The plaintiff stated that her boyfriend was shot multiple times by her ex and that her ex took the children. The children were found unharmed, the victim was flown to a local hospital, and the suspect was arrested by another agency.

DUCK STREET — A woman was behaving erratically and not taking her medication. While the deputy was speaking with her boyfriend, the woman was observed driving on a public road. During the course of the investigation, the deputy determined that the woman was driving while intoxicated. She was arrested.

Westbound: US 380 and Hastings Drive — Officers were in the area of ​​US 380 and FM 1658 when they stopped a vehicle for DUI based on reasonable suspicion. Officers made contact with the driver and determined he was intoxicated. The driver was arrested.

Country Road 730 — Officers conducted a traffic stop where 2.75 grams of methamphetamine and 14.45 ounces of marijuana were located. The driver and passenger were arrested.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 8

Private road 4768 – A woman reported that she and a family member were involved in a physical altercation.

FARMSTREET 2123 — A man reported that his roommate was having a nervous breakdown and breaking things around the house. Officers arrived and conducted an investigation, which determined no crime had been committed. The roommate was voluntarily transported to the hospital for further observation.

Private road 4768 — The plaintiff stated that her daughter attacked her and her husband. Officers conducted an investigation and the perpetrator was arrested.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9

County Road 4757 — Officers were dispatched to the scene of a serious accident involving children. Officers arrived and found that the driver had driven her car into a fence due to intoxication. The suspect refused a sobriety test. The driver was taken into custody for DUI with a child under 15 years of age. The driver consented to a blood draw and was transported to Medical City Decatur where a blood sample was taken. She was then transported to the Wise County Jail where she was booked.

County Road 4797 — A business alarm was reported at Dollar General. When officers arrived, they found the glass panel on the front door was broken. They cleared the store and found the cash register had been broken into and several freezers were open with food on the floor.
