Within days, human remains were found in Maricopa County

Authorities are investigating the discovery of human remains found within days of each other in Maricopa County.

Officers were called around 7:15 a.m. on Monday about human remains believed to have been found on a remote part of a mountain near the mountainous Deem Hills recreation area in north Phoenix, police said. The remains were found by county coroner investigators, who collected them for examination and identification, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police added.

When asked by the Arizona Republic on Tuesday, Phoenix police spokesman Sergeant Brian Bower would neither confirm nor deny whether the remains found were skeletons, a television station reported.
