Taylor Swift's reaction to Katy Perry's VMA speech goes viral

It looks like Taylor Swift enjoyed every moment of Katy Perry's performance at the 2024 MTV VMAs.

Swift danced and sang along as Perry performed a medley of her hits, then responded with equal enthusiasm to her acceptance speech at the Video Vanguard Awards.

A viral video from the VMAs shared by Bustle captures Swift's reaction to a remark Perry made in her speech.

Perry thanked her fans and the LGBTQ community for supporting her career, saying, “I wouldn't be here without my Katy Kats, who have stood by me throughout my life, and the LGBTQ community, who I acknowledge. And who have shown me that you can be both nice and shit.”

After Perry cursed, Swift stopped clapping and looked back at her longtime friend and collaborator Jack Antonoff, who was sitting behind her.

Antonoff then pointed to Swift, just as Perry's words described her. Swift began to laugh while nodding her head up and down in apparent agreement.

Swift and Perry, who were once rumored to be feuding, have recently publicly supported each other.

In February, Perry shared photos of herself and Rita Ora having fun during a stop on Swift's “Eras Tour” in Australia. Then at the VMAs, Swift danced to Perry's vocals.

Both won awards at the ceremony. Perry not only received this year's Video Vanguard Award, but also the award for the most iconic performance at the VMAs. Swift, for her part, became the most awarded solo artist in VMA history.

In her acceptance speech, Swift took a moment to thank her boyfriend, Kansas City Chief star Travis Kelce.

“I will always remember that when I finished a take and said 'cut' and we were done with that take, I would always hear someone on the other side of the studio where we were shooting cheering and yelling 'Woo!'” she said.

“And that one person was my friend Travis,” Swift said. The crowd roared in response.

“Everything this man touches turns into happiness, fun and magic, and so I want to thank him for bringing that to our shoot,” she said.
