Brothers are accused of attacking a news photographer in the Capitol on January 6

Two brothers were arrested Thursday and charged with entering the capital on Jan. 6, 2021, and attacking a photographer, one of whom claimed to be a member of Antifa, federal prosecutors said Thursday.

David Walker, 49, of Delran and Philip Walker, 52, of Upper Chichester, Pennsylvania, were charged in Washington, DC, with federal robbery, assault, intent to commit a crime and criminal damage to property.

In addition, the brothers were charged with seven other offenses, including assault and prohibited conduct in a federal building or on federal grounds.

Prosecutors said Philip Walker left his Pennsylvania home on the morning of Jan. 6 and traveled to Washington, D.C., where surveillance footage captured him and his brother David near the capital.

At around 2:40 p.m., Philip was caught on surveillance cameras entering the Capitol Rotunda, and further footage eventually showed the brothers together in the Capitol at 2:41 p.m., prosecutors said.

According to court documents, the brothers wore blue surgical masks in the capital.

The brothers are accused of attacking a member of the media who was authorized to be in the Capitol at the top of the East Rotunda steps and taking the photographer's camera. David is accused of attacking the victim a second time when the man tried to take the men's camera as they walked down the stairs, authorities said.

At 2:43 p.m., the brothers were seen leaving the building, but then a third physical altercation with the victim occurred near the doors of the East Rotunda, authorities said.

Philip was interviewed by the FBI on January 14, 2021, and admitted to authorities that he was in DC that day and confronted the victim because he thought the person was a member of Antifa.

He also admitted to disappearing with the victim's camera on the return trip to Pennsylvania and disposing of it in a body of water, authorities said.

According to court documents, federal authorities identified the men by their clothing and distinctive boots.

The brothers were arrested in their homes on Thursday. The brothers' lawyers were not immediately available for comment.
