Daughter of fatal accident victim in Seekonk speaks out

The family of a 44-year-old Swansea man is speaking out following his tragic death in Seekonk earlier this week.

According to Seekonk police, Neil Davis was driving on Fall River Avenue on Monday evening when he sped his white pickup truck into the parking lot of a car dealership.

According to police, the impact pushed a woman against a building, and she and Davis' eldest son, who was a passenger, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Davis' family believes he suffered a medical incident just days before his 45th birthday.

Hannah Davis, Neil's 18-year-old daughter, spoke exclusively with NBC 10 about the loss of her father and the emotional toll it has taken on her and her family.

“I'm also going to miss his laugh, because he has such a warm laugh,” Hannah said. “And then his hugs, because, you know, he's put on a little bit of fat, so they were pretty soft.”

Hannah said her father was getting hot dogs for the family when the incident happened. He was taken to the hospital but died that same evening.

“I felt like the world had stopped turning,” she said.

Now Hannah is focused on caring for her older brother, who has special needs, and her grandmother.

She recently started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to pay the household bills and the funeral her father deserves.

“My dad was one of the biggest pillars in our lives and he maintained this house for us,” she added. “I definitely wasn't ready. But I definitely learned a lot from it, even if he's not the one teaching me.”

Determined to keep the house her father worked so hard to maintain, Hannah takes on the unfinished projects he left behind.

She says his strength, faith and shared memories will help her get through this difficult time.

“I'm not crying so much because he's gone,” she explained. “I'm just crying about everything he left behind so we don't have to suffer so much because of his departure.”

The family is still waiting for the autopsy results to confirm the cause of death.

If you would like to help the Davis family, you can contribute to their GoFundMe campaign. More information can be found here.
