Skylar Thompson ready for emergency service

Thompson entered Thursday night's 31-10 loss to the Bills with 4:10 left in the third quarter due to the injured Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) and completed eight of 14 passes for 80 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. He also ran for four yards once.

Thompson didn't complete his passes and took a sack on his first two dropbacks, but was able to get back into some rhythm on his next possession. Still, the game was virtually unwinnable entering the final quarter, and Thompson went on to lead an offense that was without Tyreek Hill or Jaylen Waddle, as the two were taken off the field early in the lopsided loss. Thompson has had some successful moments as a starter in Tagovailoa's place in 2022, and he will be slotted in for the latter in a Week 3 road game against the Seahawks on Sept. 22 if Tua fails concussion protocol.
