15 Knox County Schools students arrested in less than a week

Knox County police arrested four more students on September 12 to address an increase in threats following the September 4 school massacre in Georgia.

There have been numerous false reports and implausible threats in Knox County and across the country.

A spike in threats often follows school shootings. School shooting threats skyrocketed after 17 people were killed at a school in Parkland, Florida, in 2018. The Educator's School Safety Network used news reports to compile a list of 638 threats in the two weeks following the shooting.

According to rumors spreading, especially on social media, attendance at Knox County Schools had dropped by about 25% on September 11. On September 12, it had risen to 92.4%, school officials said.
